On the third Sunday of Lent, the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Klang joined parishes throughout the archdiocese to celebrate the First Scrutiny for the RCIA Elect. The ceremony, presided over by Fr. Gregory Chan, Fr. Gnana Selvam Berentis, and Fr. Lawrence Andrew SJ, took place during English, Tamil, and Bahasa Malaysia Masses.

Focusing on the encounter between Christ and the Samaritan Woman, the ceremony emphasises Jesus as the Living Water. Through intercessory prayer and the laying on of hands, the Scrutinies aim to reveal sin and heal spiritual wounds. This rite frees the Elect from evil and strengthens their faith as they prepare for their Easter baptism.
