Holy Days of Obligation

In addition to Sunday, the days to be observed as holy days of obligation in the Latin Rite dioceses, including the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur within the Conference of Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei, in conformity with Canon 1246, are as follows:

The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord's own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist. For Catholics, the Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life" because the Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith: "Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking. Jesus himself celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples and therein anticipated his death; he gave himself to his disciples under the signs of bread and wine and commanded them from then on, even after his death, to celebrate the Eucharist. “Do this in remembrance of me”
