Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (2026)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This year, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary falls on Saturday, 15 August 2026. Both this Solemnity and the following Sunday, 16 August, are holy days of obligation within our region.

For pastoral reasons, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei - in consultation with the Episcopal Regional Liturgy Commission - has transferred the celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption to Sunday, 16 August 2026.

Therefore, the Masses on this weekend will celebrate the Assumption, fulfilling your holy day of obligation.
