Silent Voices, Loud Truths
The Deaf Human Library, a storytelling and dialogue initiative held at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Klang, transformed Deaf individuals into "human books" to foster deep empathy and dismantle societal stereotypes among 60 participants. Through intimate, interpreted conversations, the hearing community gained profound insights into Deaf culture and faith, witnessing firsthand the daily challenges and resilience of the Deaf community. Highlights included personal stories from Charlie Goh, a hearing parent raising a Deaf daughter, and Christina Lee, who shared reflections from her 20-year career as a BIM (Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia) interpreter, ultimately bridging the gap between two worlds through the power of shared human connection.
