Government Grant Supports Urgent Roof Repairs at Church of the Immaculate Conception, Port Dickson

The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Port Dickson, has received RM224,622 under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government's (KPKT) Sentuhan Kasih initiative, through the Rumah Ibadat Bukan Islam (RIBI) programme. Parish Priest Fr. Edwin Peter accepted the mock cheque during a presentation officiated by Minister Nga Kor Ming in Seremban, where grants were distributed to 24 non-Muslim houses of worship.

The funding will support urgent roof replacement works at the century-old parish after years of deterioration, worsened by the recent Senya storm. Speaking to BERNAMA TV, Fr. Edwin shared that the parish's immediate priority is ensuring the safety of the church before addressing other maintenance needs. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to KPKT, as well as the many individuals, neighbouring parishes, and organisations whose generosity helped sustain the parish community of more than 1,000 faithful during this difficult period.
